February 10 Event - Wesabe

Speaker: Jason Knight, Wesabe

As a co-founder of one of the biggest money management and social networking tools on the internet, Jason Knight has tremendous insight on how to leverage financial data, word of mouth marketing, and consumer loyalty to grow a successful business.  Wesabe, the company Knight helped create, has experienced tremendous growth over the past few years, due in large part to their ability to harness the power of being ‘small’ and to capitalize on consumer loyalty.

Message from the President - 1Q 2009

Greetings,

The King County Chapter of Credit Unions board would like by saying thank you for making 2008 an amazing year. In 2008, we held four events at four great venues. Our speaker topics focused on Community Banking, Recruiting and Retaining, and finally a Futurist. We also held our annual Golf Tournament at Washington National.

In 2009, we have another four great events planned. The King County Chapter of Credit Unions board has worked hard on selecting three great speaker topics and once again will be holding our annual golf tournament. Our first speaker is Jason Knight from Wesabe. This event is scheduled for February 10th at McCormick and Schmick’s. Our next event is tentatively scheduled for May 13th. The focus of this speaker will be legislative affairs. Then we turn our focus to the 3rd annual King and Pierce County Chapter of Credit Unions Golf Tournament at Washington National. This year’s tournament will take place on June 30th. Everyone, keep your fingers crossed for another beautiful day. Finally our fourth event is tentatively scheduled for October 21st. The focus of this speaker centered on organization and time management.

The King County Chapter of Credit Unions thanks you in advance for your support throughout 2009.

Thank you,

Lee Harris
Chapter President

3rd Quarter 2008 Message from the President

Welcome to summer!

We’ve had a great year so far.  The year started off with a great event at Ray’s Boat House in February.  Our speaker was Lydia Johnson, formerly of Vancity Credit Union in Vancouver BC and Filene’s i3 group.  She spoke on Green Banking and community marketing.  The feedback we received from this event was tremendous.  We followed this event with a great event that focused on Recruiting and Employee Retention.  Mike Humphries from Waldron and Company was our speaker for this event, which was held at the Bellevue Red Lion.  This was another great event, which brought a lot of new attendee’s to our chapter event.

On July 10th, the King County Chapter of Credit Unions and Pierce County Chapter of Credit Unions partnered once again, for our second annual Golf Tournament.  This great golf tournament saw another great day for golf.  This year there were 144 golfers, representing the credit unions we support and or business partners.  A special thank you goes out to the twenty-one credit unions that participated in this year’s tournament; you are the reason that we hold this tournament every year.  I also want to thank the thirty-two business partners that helped make this event happen.  With a special thank you going to CO-OP Financial Services as our presenting sponsor.  This year proceeds of the golf tournament are going in part to support Children’s Miracle Network and Junior Achievement.  I am happy to say that with your support we raised more then $16,000.

What’s to come?  This fall the King County Chapter of Credit Unions is working on a very special speaker.  This is an event that I’m truly excited for.  We will be posting more information on this event by the first of September.

Please check back with http://www.kcccu.com for updates on our upcoming events and keep an eye out for our event save the dates.

Your support of the King County Chapter of Credit Unions is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Lee Harris
